This is an advanced battery monitoring IC that accurately measures the charge and discharge currents in rechargeable battery packs. Intended for pack integration, the bq2023 contains all the necessary functions to form the basis for an accurate battery gas gauge in cellular phones, PDAs or other portable products.
The bq2023 is an advanced battery monitoring integrated circuit designed to work with intelligent host controllers in portable products such as cellular phones and PDAs. It accurately measures charge and discharge currents by integrating the voltage drop across a series sense resistor, utilizing an internal voltage-to-frequency converter capable of resolving signals down to 3.05 nV.
The device features 224 bytes of general-purpose RAM, 224 bytes of flash memory for formatted battery monitor information, and 8 bytes of secure ID ROM. It communicates over a single-wire serial interface compatible with Dallas Semiconductor's 1-wire architecture and includes an internal temperature sensor to eliminate the need for external thermistors.
| Supply Voltage Range (Operation) | 2.4 V to 5.0 V |
|---|---|
| Sleep Current | 1.5 pA typical |
| Flash Memory Size | 224 bytes |
| RAM Size | 32 Bytes |
| Temperature Resolution | 0.25 °K |
| Operating Temperature Range | -20°C to 70°C |
