About this manual

The National Semiconductor DAC0830 and DAC0832 are advanced CMOS/SI-Cr 8-bit multiplying Digital-to-Analog Converters (DACs) designed to interface directly with popular microprocessors such as the 8080, 8048, 8085, and Z80. These devices utilize a deposited silicon-chromium R-2R resistor ladder network to provide excellent temperature tracking characteristics and low power consumption.

Key features include double buffering for simultaneous updating of multiple DACs, TTL logic input voltage level compatibility, and the ability to operate in voltage switching mode. The datasheet provides detailed electrical characteristics, absolute maximum ratings, connection diagrams, and typical application circuits for these components.

Frequently asked questions

What microprocessors is the DAC0830 compatible with?

It is designed to interface directly with the 8080, 8048, 8085, Z80, and other popular microprocessors.

Does the DAC0830 support double buffering?

Yes, double buffering allows the DACs to output a voltage corresponding to one digital word while holding the next digital word.

What is the maximum linearity error?

The maximum linearity error is 0.05% of Full Scale Range (FSR) over temperature.
