Littelfuse TMOV and iTMOV Thermally Protected Varistor Datasheet

The Littelfuse TMOV and iTMOV varistors are integrated circuit protection devices that provide quick thermal response and low inductance. They are designed to protect against overheating caused by abnormal over-voltage and limited current conditions. The iTMOV varistor includes a third lead for indicating disconnection from the circuit. These varistors are wave solderable, simplifying product assembly. They are recognized surge suppression components to UL 1449.

About this manual

The Littelfuse TMOV and iTMOV varistors are thermally protected Metal Oxide Varistors (MOVs) designed for integrated circuit protection. They feature an integrated thermally activated element that opens the circuit in the event of overheating due to abnormal over-voltage or limited current conditions. The iTMOV variant includes a third lead to indicate when the MOV has disconnected from the circuit, facilitating connection to monitoring circuitry.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between TMOV and iTMOV varistors?

The iTMOV varistor differs from the TMOV varistor by the inclusion of a third lead for the purpose of indicating that the MOV has been disconnected from the circuit.

Are TMOV and iTMOV varistors wave solderable?

Yes, they are wave solderable, which simplifies end product assembly by reducing the expense and rework associated with hand soldering operations.

What are the primary applications for these varistors?

They are used in TVSS products, AC panel protection modules, AC line power supplies, and surge protected strip connectors, among others.
