The MF10 is a universal monolithic dual switched capacitor filter that is easy to use and provides high performance. It can produce various 2nd order filter functions.
The National Semiconductor MF10 is a general-purpose CMOS active filter building block consisting of two independent sections. Each section can be configured with an external clock and three to four resistors to produce various 2nd order functions, including lowpass, bandpass, highpass, notch, or allpass responses. Up to 4th order functions are achievable by cascading the internal blocks or multiple packages.
The device operates up to 30 kHz with a clock-to-center frequency ratio accuracy of +0.6%. It is available in 20-pin Dual-In-Line and Surface Mount (SO) wide-body packages. The datasheet provides absolute maximum ratings, electrical characteristics for various supply voltages and temperatures, and typical performance curves regarding power supply current, output swing, Q deviation, and crosstalk.
| Maximum Supply Current | 8 mA (Typical) / 12 mA (Tested) |
|---|---|
| Center Frequency Range | Min 0.4 Hz / Max 30 kHz |
| Clock Frequency Range | Min 5.0 Hz / Max 16 MHz |
| Op Amp Gain Bandwidth Product (GBW) | 2.5 MHz |
| Op Amp Slew Rate | 7 V/ps |
| Maximum Output Short Circuit Current (Source) | 20 mA |
The absolute maximum rating for the supply voltage (V+ — V-) is 14V.
The MF10 consists of two independent CMOS active filter building blocks.
The device can operate with a clock frequency up to 1.0 MHz.
