About this manual

The TPS2398 and TPS2399 are integrated circuits designed as hot swap power managers for use in nominal -48-V systems. They incorporate an improved circuit breaker response that provides rapid protection from short circuits while enabling plug-ins to tolerate large transients generated by sudden switchover to a higher voltage supply.

These devices are rated to withstand spikes up to -100 V and operate with input supply ranges of -36 V to -80 V. They provide load current slew rate and peak magnitude limiting, easily programmed by sense resistor value and a single external capacitor.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between TPS2398 and TPS2399 operation?

The TPS2398 latches off in response to current faults, while the TPS2399 periodically retries the load in the event of a fault.

What is the enable input threshold voltage?

The threshold voltage for the enable input (EN) when rising is typically 1.4 V.
