The 80C186XL and 80C188XL are low‑power, fully static 16‑bit microprocessors that are pin‑compatible replacements for the NMOS 80186/80188. They add ten new instructions, integrated DMA, timers, interrupt controller, and optional power‑save and DRAM‑refresh functions while remaining object‑code compatible with existing 8086/8088 software.
