The TLP1020 combines a GaAs infrared LED with a high‑sensitivity Si photo IC to provide a digital output photointerrupter suitable for position detection in copying machines, facsimiles and printers. It features an open‑collector output that can be directly connected to TTL, LSTTL and CMOS circuits, a wide supply voltage range, and a fast propagation time.
Typical applications include upward‑downward position detection, shutter control and optical sensing where a compact, high‑speed, low‑power component is required. The device is supplied in a printed wiring board direct‑mount package with a locating pin and is designed for operation from –25 °C to 85 °C.
