MAX3814 is a TMDS output device launched by TI company, which has the characteristics of FR-4 board microstrip and cable HF loss compensation, variable output current, selectable partial return termination and 4 channels.
The MAX3814 TMDS™ equalizer/driver IC compensates for FR‑4 board and cable losses and provides a fully compliant DVI/HDMI TMDS output. It operates from a 3.3 V supply, offers selectable output currents (10 mA or 15 mA) via the LEVEL pin, and can be used with or without a 200 Ω back‑termination resistor.
The device is packaged in a 32‑pin TQFP (5 mm × 5 mm × 1.0 mm) and is intended for laptop graphics docks, docking stations, and cable equalization up to 15 m long. Detailed specifications, pin descriptions, layout recommendations, and typical application circuits are provided.
| Supply Voltage | 3.0 V – 3.6 V |
|---|---|
| Supply Current | 110 mA – 140 mA |
| Data Rate | 0.25 Gbps – 1.65 Gbps |
| Output Amplitude | 1.05 V p‑p differential |
| Input Termination | 50 Ω ±10 % each side to VCC |
| Output Current (LEVEL pin) | 10 mA (low) or 15 mA (high) |
| Operating Temperature | 0 °C – 70 °C |
The device operates from 3.0 V to 3.6 V supply voltage.
The LEVEL pin selects the output current: low sets 10 mA, high sets 15 mA.
It supports data rates up to 1.65 Gbps.
