About this manual

The MAX987/MAX988/MAX991/MAX992/MAX995/MAX996 family are low‑power, low‑voltage comparators that operate from +2.5 V to +5.5 V (single‑supply) or ±1.25 V to ±2.75 V (dual‑supply). They consume only 48 µA per comparator and feature a 120 ns propagation delay, internal hysteresis, and rail‑to‑rail input and output ranges.

Key features include push‑pull outputs for the MAX987/991/995 devices (8 mA source/sink capability) and open‑drain outputs for the MAX988/992/996 devices (output can be pulled up to 6 V above VEE). The devices are offered in space‑saving SC70, SOT‑23 and µMAX packages and are suited for battery‑powered, portable, and high‑speed applications such as zero‑crossing detection and logic‑level translation.
