The terminal initiates the version check by sending a Test command via the multiplexer control channel; the module replies with the same value, then the module sends its own Test command and the terminal responds, after which both sides agree on a common protocol version.
The default configuration for those modules uses multiplexer protocol version 3.
The multiplexer supports the first serial interface ASC0, an optional second serial interface ASC1, and an optional USB interface.
