This document describes a high-performance, low-power AVR 8-bit microcontroller with features such as RISC architecture, nonvolatile program and data memories, peripheral features, special microcontroller features, and I/O and packages.
The ATmega8515 microcontroller is a low‑power CMOS 8‑bit device based on the AVR enhanced RISC architecture. It offers 8 KB of In‑System Self‑programmable Flash, 512 B EEPROM, 512 B SRAM, up to 64 KB optional external memory, 35 programmable I/O lines, three timers, a programmable USART, SPI, watchdog timer, analog comparator, and three sleep modes (Idle, Power‑down, Standby). The device operates from 2.7 V to 5.5 V (ATmega8515L) or 4.5 V to 5.5 V (ATmega8515) and supports speeds up to 16 MHz.
The datasheet includes pin‑out diagrams for PDIP, TQFP, PLCC, and MLF packages, detailed pin descriptions for ports A‑E, and information on the AVR core, ALU, and interrupt architecture. It also provides ordering and packaging information, as well as Atmel’s disclaimer and contact details.
