Maxim MAX3291/MAX3292 RS-485/RS-422 Transceiver Datasheet

MAX3291/MAX3292 are high-speed RS-485/RS-422 transceivers from Maxim Integrated Products. They feature driver preemphasis circuitry, which extends the distance and increases the data rate of reliable communication by reducing intersymbol interference (ISI) caused by long cables.

About this manual

The MAX3291 and MAX3292 are full‑duplex RS‑485/RS‑422 transceivers that operate from a single +5 V supply. They feature driver pre‑emphasis circuitry to extend communication distance and increase data rates, a low‑current shutdown mode (100 nA), and fail‑safe receiver inputs. Both devices support up to 128 transceivers on a single bus.

The document provides absolute maximum ratings, detailed DC electrical characteristics, switching characteristics, pin descriptions, and package information for the 14‑pin SOIC and DIP variants. Ordering information and mechanical dimensions are also included.
