About this manual

The AT29BV040A is a 4‑megabit (512K × 8) in‑system flash programmable ROM that operates from a single 2.7 V to 3.6 V supply. It provides fast 200 ns read access, low standby current (50 pA) and active current of 15 mA, and supports 2048 sectors of 256 bytes each. Two 16 KB boot blocks include an optional programming lockout feature.

The device is programmed on a sector basis using a software data‑protection sequence, with DATA polling or toggle‑bit monitoring to detect the end of a program/erase cycle. Hardware protections prevent inadvertent programming, and the part includes absolute maximum ratings, DC/AC operating ranges, and detailed pin‑out for 32‑lead TSOP and PLCC packages.
