AD1987 is an audio decoder produced by Analog Devices. It supports 7.1 surround sound and 5.1 stereo output, and also supports independent headphone output.
The AD1987 is a high‑definition audio codec with eight DACs, four ADCs, multiple headphone and microphone ports, and S/PDIF output, designed for desktop PCs requiring superior audio performance. It supports sample rates from 8 kHz up to 192 kHz with 24‑bit resolution and includes retaskable jacks for flexible 5.1/7.1 configurations.
The datasheet provides detailed electrical specifications, test conditions, power‑down states, absolute maximum ratings, and pin‑out descriptions, along with environmental and thermal information. It also references the HD Audio Link specification and includes ordering and package details for the 48‑lead LFCSP_VQ package.
| Sample Rate (fs) | 48 kHz (typical) |
|---|---|
| Digital Supply Voltage | 3.3 V |
| Analog Supply Voltage | 3.3 V |
| ADC Resolution | 24 Bits |
| DAC Resolution | 24 Bits |
| Line‑Out THD+N | -85 dB |
| Dynamic Range (Line‑Out) | 95 dB |
| S/PDIF Supported Sample Rates | 44.1 kHz – 192 kHz |
