This document introduces the features of Analog Devices' ADV7181 Rev. B multi-format SDTV video decoder.
The ADV7181 is a single‑chip multiformat video decoder that automatically detects and converts NTSC, PAL, and SECAM analog video signals (composite, S‑Video, and component) into a digital ITU‑R BT.656 4:2:2 output. It integrates three 9‑bit ADCs, a 6‑channel input MUX, and adaptive digital line‑length tracking to handle weak or noisy sources such as VCRs and tuners.
Designed for a wide range of applications—including DVD recorders, set‑top boxes, security cameras, automotive entertainment, and professional video systems—the device offers programmable video controls, VBI data decoding, Macrovision detection, and a 2‑wire I²C‑compatible serial interface for configuration.
