DS1816 is a chip released by Maxim for detecting and recovering the microprocessor after power failure. This chip has the characteristics of automatic recovery, precision temperature compensation, reliable low power open drain output, etc.
The DS1816 EconoReset monitors the power‑supply voltage (VCC) with a precision temperature‑compensated reference. When VCC goes out of tolerance, the device asserts an active‑low reset (RST) and holds it for about 150 ms after VCC returns to the acceptable range, allowing the processor and supply to stabilize.
The IC is offered in low‑cost TO‑92 and space‑saving SOT‑23 packages, each with an open‑drain reset output and an internal 5 kΩ pull‑up resistor. Detailed electrical characteristics, absolute maximum ratings, and timing diagrams are provided for design reference.
| Supply Voltage (VCC) | 0.0 V – 5.5 V |
|---|---|
| Operating Temperature Range | -40 °C to +85 °C |
| Output Current (IOL) | +10 mA |
| Reset Active Time (tRST) | 100 ms – 250 ms (typ. 150 ms) |
| Internal Pull‑Up Resistor (RP) | 3.5 kΩ – 7.5 kΩ |
| Package Options | TO‑92, SOT‑23 |
The reset output remains active for approximately 150 ms to allow the power supply and processor to stabilize.
The DS1816 is available in low‑cost TO‑92 and space‑saving SOT‑23 packages.
The absolute maximum rating for the VCC pin is –0.5 V to +7.0 V relative to ground.
The device can source up to about +10 mA at a 0.4 V output voltage.
