This application note describes in detail how the Agilent Technologies 2100 bioanalyzer can be used to analyze PCR fragments using the DNA 7500 LabChip® kit. Both size and concentration information can be obtained for fragments ranging from 100–7500 base pairs. Sizing and quantitation accuracy were determined and performance was compared to slab gel electrophoretic methods. The advantages of the DNA 7500 assay for determining PCR product purity are also described.

Peak 2 was correctly identified to contain only tyrosine, peak 3 contained neither tyrosine nor tryptophan and peaks 4 and 6 contained only tryptophan (figure 1). Second derivative spectra can be used to emphasize small spectral differences in similar molecules. This is especially useful for identifying tryptophan and tyrosine residues in peptides (figure 2).

This document introduces a method for detecting the purity of synthetic �-homo polylysine (250) using capillary electrophoresis. Experimental results show that the purity of synthetic �-homo polylysine (250) in 50 mM phosphate buffer (pH 2.0) solution is greater than 99.7%.
