This application note describes NXP's reference design for a high‑voltage, high‑power EV traction motor inverter, including hardware boards, key ICs, and…
The NXP EV Traction Motor Power Inverter Control Reference Platform provides a hardware reference design and basic software for developing an ASIL‑D compliant high‑voltage inverter. The platform consists of four boards – system control, power stage driver (using GD3100), current sensor, and vehicle interface – and demonstrates 150 kW peak output power with >96% efficiency from a 320 V supply.
The reference design incorporates the MPC5775E MCU, FS65 safety‑PMIC, and GD3100 gate driver, offering isolated high‑voltage operation, fault monitoring, and redundant CAN interfaces. An SDK and optional safety libraries enable developers to build motor‑control applications with built‑in functional safety features.
