MPS has launched a series of 5 watt power BWR modules for aerospace, marine, telecom and computer applications. These modules are compact, full-featured, 5 watt output power, and low cost, which can provide system architects with unprecedented design and layout flexibility.
The BWR family provides compact, fully regulated and isolated DC/DC converters (1" x 1" x 0.45") delivering up to 5 W of power. They are offered with standard output voltages of ±5 V, ±12 V or ±15 V and input voltage ranges of 18‑36 V for D24 models or 36‑72 V for D48 models. All devices are 5‑sided shielded, meet UL1950, CSA 22.2 and IEC950 standards, and feature 1000 Vdc isolation.
Typical performance includes efficiencies up to 80 %, a switching frequency of 170 kHz (±10 kHz), and operation from –25 °C to +95 °C (derated). No external components are required for basic operation, though optional input/output filtering can be added for lower ripple and noise.
