About this manual

The MAX541 and MAX542 are 16‑bit digital‑to‑analog converters that operate from a single +5 V supply and provide unbuffered voltage output. They feature a 3‑wire serial interface compatible with SPI, QSPI and MICROWIRE, and include power‑on reset circuitry that clears the output to 0 V on power‑up.

Key specifications include low supply current (0.3 mA), low power dissipation (1.5 mW typical), 1 µs settling time, and a 0 V to VREF output range (unipolar) or ±VREF in bipolar mode for the MAX542. The devices are offered in 8‑pin DIP/SO (MAX541) and 14‑pin DIP/SO (MAX542) packages, making them suitable for high‑resolution industrial, test and measurement applications.
