About this manual

The LM4890 Boomer® audio power amplifier is designed for demanding mobile phone and portable communication device applications. It delivers 1 W continuous average power into an 8 Ω BTL load with less than 1 % THD+N from a 5 V supply and operates from 2.2 V to 5.5 V. The device is unity‑gain stable, can be externally gain‑set, and includes pop‑and‑click circuitry to eliminate turn‑on/off noise.

Key features include an ultra‑low‑current shutdown mode (0.1 pA typical), internal thermal shutdown protection, no need for output coupling or bootstrap capacitors, and compatibility with space‑saving packages such as micro‑SMD, MSOP, SOIC, and LLP. Typical applications are mobile phones, PDAs, and other portable electronic devices.
