About this manual

The MCP3905/06 devices are energy‑metering integrated circuits that provide active (real) power measurement for single‑phase residential meters. They support IEC 62053 specifications and output both average and instantaneous power pulses for calibration.

The ICs include two 16‑bit delta‑sigma ADCs, a programmable gain amplifier (16:1 for MCP3905, 32:1 for MCP3906), an ultra‑low drift 2.4 V reference, and drive capability for mechanical counters and stepper motors. Operating temperature ranges from –40 °C to +85 °C and they are supplied in a 24‑pin SSOP package.
