MAX3100 is a serial communication interface chip for small microcontroller systems.
The MAX3100 is a universal asynchronous receiver‑transmitter (UART) optimized for small microcontroller‑based systems. It communicates via an SPI™/MICROWIRE™ interface and is offered in compact 14‑pin DIP, 16‑pin QSOP and 24‑pin TQFN packages. The device supports RS‑232, RS‑485, IrDA and opto‑isolated links, with a programmable baud‑rate generator covering 300 baud to 230 kbaud.
Key features include an 8‑word FIFO, four maskable interrupt sources, low quiescent current (150 µA) and ultra‑low shutdown current (10 µA). The datasheet provides detailed electrical characteristics, pin descriptions, timing diagrams and typical application circuits.
| Operating Current (typical) | 150 µA at 3.3 V |
