MAX3800 is a +3.3V adaptive cable equalizer and cable driver implemented together on a single chip
The MAX3800 is a +3.3 V adaptive cable equalizer and cable driver integrated on a single chip, designed for coaxial and twin‑axial point‑to‑point links. It provides differential CML inputs and outputs, loss‑of‑signal (LOS) and cable‑integrity monitor (CIM) outputs, and automatically compensates up to 30 dB of skin‑effect loss at 1.6 GHz.
Key features include 3.2 Gbps data‑rate capability, adjustable driver output amplitude (450 mV‑870 mV), low power consumption (200 mW typical), and a wide operating temperature range of 0 °C to +85 °C. The device is offered in a 32‑pin TQFP‑EP package with exposed pad for thermal performance.
| Supply Voltage (VCC) | +3.14 V to +3.46 V |
|---|---|
| Typical Power Dissipation | 200 mW at +3.3 V |
| Maximum Data Rate | 3.2 Gbps |
| Adjustable Output Amplitude | 450 mV to 870 mV (RMOD 10 kΩ‑20 kΩ) |
| Equalization Range | 0 dB to 30 dB at 1.6 GHz |
| Operating Temperature Range | 0 °C to +85 °C |
| Input Impedance (Single‑ended) | 45 Ω‑65 Ω |
| Output Impedance (Single‑ended) | 50 Ω‑75 Ω |
The MAX3800 supports data rates up to 3.2 Gbps.
By connecting a resistor between 10 kΩ and 20 kΩ from the RMOD pin to ground, the output amplitude can be set between 450 mV and 870 mV.
The device operates from 0 °C up to +85 °C.
