Maxim MAX8814 Linear Li+ Battery Charger Datasheet

The MAX8814 is an intelligent, stand-alone constant-current, constant-voltage (CCCV) thermally regulated linear charger designed for charging a single-cell lithium-ion (Li+) battery. The IC integrates the current- sense circuit, MOSFET pass element, thermal- regulation circuitry, and eliminates the reverse-blocking Schottky diode to create the simplest and smallest charging solution for handheld equipment.

Frequently asked questions

What input voltage range does the MAX8814 support?

It operates from 4.25 V up to 28 V, but charging is disabled when the input exceeds 7 V.

How is the fast‑charge current programmed?

The fast‑charge current is set by connecting a resistor from the ISET pin to ground; the current equals 1596 V divided by the resistor value.
