The DS1808Z-050 is a dual-channel, digitally controlled, log-taper potentiometer from Texas Instruments that provides 60dB of attenuation with 1dB, 2dB, and 3dB attenuation steps, and a mute position that provides greater than 90dB of attenuation.
The DS1808Z-050 digital potentiometer provides two independent 32‑position log‑taper channels for precise volume control. It operates from dual ±12 V supplies (or a single +12 V source) and supports a 2‑wire serial interface for programming the wiper positions.
The device offers a 60 dB total attenuation range with a mute position that exceeds 90 dB. It is supplied in a 16‑pin SOIC package, works over an industrial temperature range (‑40 °C to +85 °C), and can be addressed together with up to seven other DS1808 devices on the same bus.

Up to eight individual DS1808 devices may be addressed on a single 2‑wire bus.
The device provides 1 dB steps for the first 12 taps, 2 dB steps for the next 12 taps, and 3 dB steps for the final 8 taps.
It is designed for dual ±12 V supplies, but can also operate from a single +12 V source with the negative rail set to 0 V.
