TPA0253 is a 1-W mono bridge-tied-load (BTL) amplifier designed to drive speakers with as low as 8-Ω impedance. The mono signal is created by summing left and right inputs internally. The amplifier can be reconfigured on the fly to drive two stereo single-ended (SE) signals into headphones. This makes the device ideal for use in small notebook computers, PDAs, digital personal audio players, anyplace a mono speaker and stereo headphones are required.
The TPA0253 delivers up to 1 W of audio power from a 5‑V supply into an 8‑Ω speaker and can be reconfigured to drive stereo headphones. It integrates high‑impedance CMOS inputs, internal gain settings, and a shutdown pin that is TTL‑compatible.
The device is supplied in a 10‑pin DGQ (PowerPAD™) MSOP package, operates from 2.5 V to 5.5 V, and is rated for -40 °C to 85 °C ambient temperature. Detailed electrical characteristics, mechanical drawings, and packaging options are provided in the datasheet.
| Supply voltage (Vpp) | 2.5 V – 5.5 V |
|---|---|
| Typical supply current (5 V) | 3.2 mA |
| Shutdown control current | 1 A typical |
| Operating temperature range | -40 °C to 85 °C |
| Input impedance | 50 kΩ |
| THD (BTL mode) | 0.1 % |
| Gain (SE mode) | 1.9 dB |
The device is specified to operate with a supply voltage (Vpp) between 2.5 V and 5.5 V.
The amplifier is rated for ambient temperatures from –40 °C to +85 °C.
The shutdown control pin can handle a typical current of about 1 A.
