This data sheet introduces the features and characteristics of the ADM1175 hot swap controller and digital power monitor. It allows board insertion and removal from a live backplane, and controls supply voltages from 3.15V to 16.5V.
The ADM1175 combines a hot‑swap controller, precision current‑sense amplifier and a 12‑bit analog‑to‑digital converter. It monitors voltage and current on a live backplane and communicates the data over an I²C bus, allowing safe insertion and removal of boards.
Key features include adjustable analog current limit, fast over‑current response, programmable timing via the TIMER pin, and support for up to four I²C addresses. The device is supplied in a 10‑lead MSOP package and is intended for power‑monitoring applications such as telecom equipment, PCs/servers and other data‑communication hardware.
