This document is about MCP73811/2 charge controller, which introduces its features and characteristics, including selectable charge current, voltage range, temperature range and more.
The MCP73811/2 family are linear charge‑management controllers designed for space‑limited, cost‑sensitive single‑cell Li‑Ion or Li‑Polymer battery applications. They provide constant‑current/constant‑voltage charging with thermal regulation and require only a few external components.
The devices operate from 3.75 V to 6 V supply, support selectable charge currents (85 mA/450 mA for MCP73811, 50 mA‑500 mA programmable for MCP73812), and are supplied in a 5‑lead SOT‑23 package. They are rated for –40 °C to +85 °C operating temperature and include reverse‑discharge protection and automatic power‑down features.
| Regulated Output Voltage | 4.20 V |
|---|---|
| Charge Current (MCP73811) | 85 mA (low) / 450 mA (high) |
| Charge Current (MCP73812) | 50 mA – 500 mA (programmable) |
| Supply Voltage Range | 3.75 V – 6 V |
| Operating Temperature Range | –40 °C to +85 °C |
| Package | 5‑Lead SOT‑23 |
The controller regulates the output voltage to 4.20 V with a tolerance of ±1 %.
The MCP73811 offers two selectable currents: 85 mA for low‑power USB ports and 450 mA for high‑power USB ports.
The device operates from –40 °C up to +85 °C.
It is supplied in a 5‑lead SOT‑23 surface‑mount package.
