About this manual

The ICL32XX family provides 3.0 V to 5.5 V powered RS‑232 transmitters/receivers that meet EIA/TIA‑232 and V.28/V.24 specifications while consuming only a few microamps in standby. The devices are targeted at battery‑powered handhelds, notebooks, PDAs and other portable equipment where low operational power is critical. Features include on‑chip charge pumps, manual and automatic power‑down functions, and compatibility with 3.3 V, 5 V or mixed‑voltage systems.

The datasheet includes pin‑out diagrams, pin descriptions, typical operating circuits, absolute‑maximum ratings and detailed electrical specifications. Power‑down can be controlled via SHDN, FORCEON/FORCEOFF or EN pins, allowing the supply current to drop to as low as 1 µA. Ordering information, package options and RoHS compliance details are also provided.
