About this manual

The AD5204 and AD5206 are 4‑ and 6‑channel, 256‑position digitally‑controlled variable resistor devices that replace mechanical potentiometers. Each channel provides a programmable resistance between terminals A‑B, A‑W, or B‑W with selectable nominal resistances of 10 kΩ, 50 kΩ, or 100 kΩ. The devices use an SPI‑compatible 3‑wire serial interface and support mid‑scale power‑on preset and shutdown modes.

The parts are offered in PDIP‑24, SOIC‑24, and TSSOP‑24 packages and operate over an industrial temperature range of –40 °C to +85 °C with a single‑supply voltage of +2.7 V to +5.5 V (or dual supply). The datasheet includes detailed electrical characteristics, absolute maximum ratings, pin‑out tables, timing diagrams, and mechanical dimensions.
