About this manual

The 3M 8420 Series Cold Shrink EPDM Tubes Connector Insulators are open‑ended, tubular rubber sleeves that are factory expanded and assembled onto a removable core. They are supplied pre‑stretched for field installation; the core is removed after the tube is positioned, allowing the EPDM sleeve to shrink and form a waterproof seal.

Key features include simple hand‑only installation, no need for heat or torches, wide diameter coverage (8 mm → 94 mm), and resistance to moisture, acids, alkalis, ozone and UV light. The product meets UL486D, ANSI C119.1 and NEMA PP‑C1 requirements and is approved for sub‑mersible and aerial applications up to 1000 V.
