3M 1194 Tape is a copper foil tape with a non-conductive acrylic pressure-sensitive adhesive that can be used for applications requiring economical electrical bonding, grounding, and EMI shielding.
The 3M 1194 Tape consists of a 1‑ounce deadsoft copper foil backing with an aggressive nonconductive pressure‑sensitive acrylic adhesive. It is supplied on a removable liner and is available in standard and custom widths (1/4" to 23") and lengths (standard 36 yards, longer on request). The tape is used for economical electrical bonding, grounding, and EMI shielding, with a solderable copper foil that resists oxidation.
Typical shielding effectiveness is 50 dB to 60 dB (30 MHz to 1 GHz). The data sheet also provides physical specifications such as backing thickness, total thickness, breaking strength, adhesion to steel, and flame‑retardancy rating.
| Backing thickness | 1.4 mil (0.04 mm) |
|---|---|
| Total thickness (backing plus adhesive) | 2.6 mil (0.066 mm) |
| Breaking strength | 25 Ib.fin (44 N/10 mm) |
| Adhesion to steel | 40 oz/in (4.4 N/10 mm) |
| Flame retardancy | Pass |
| Width range | 1/4" to 23" |
Typical shielding effectiveness (far field) is in the range of 50 dB to 60 dB (30 MHz to 1 GHz).
Standard length is 36 yards, and widths range from 1/4" to 23".
The backing thickness is 1.4 mil (0.04 mm).
