The MC1321x is a combination of a low power 2.4 GHz radio frequency transceiver and an 8-bit microcontroller that can be used for wireless applications from simple proprietary point-to-point connectivity to a complete ZigBee mesh network.
The MC1321x family from Freescale integrates a low‑power 2.4 GHz IEEE 802.15.4‑compliant radio transceiver with an 8‑bit HCS08 microcontroller in a 71‑pin LGA package (9 mm × 9 mm × 1 mm). It targets wireless point‑to‑point, star, and mesh networks for applications such as lighting control, security, HVAC, asset tracking, and health monitoring.
Key features include selectable memory configurations (16 KB‑60 KB flash, 1 KB‑4 KB RAM), programmable output power (‑27 dBm to +3 dBm), receive sensitivity better than ‑92 dBm, multiple power‑saving modes, a 40 MHz HCS08 CPU core, SPI, I²C, ADC, timers, PWM, and extensive GPIO. The device operates from 2 V to 3.6 V and supports the full ZigBee 1.0 stack or a proprietary Simple MAC.
