L6561 is the improved version of the L6560 standard Power Factor Corrector. It has a superior performance multiplier, making the device capable of working in wide input voltage range applications (from 85V to 265V) with an excellent THD. Furthermore the start up current has been reduced at few tens of mA and a disable function has been implement- ed on the ZCD pin, guaranteeing lower current consumption in stand by mode. Realised in mixed BCD technology, the chip gives the following benefits: – micro power start up current – 1% precision internal reference voltage – (Tj = 25°C) – Soft Output Over Voltage Protection – no need for external low pass filter on the cur- rent sense – very low operating quiescent current minimis- es power dissipation
This datasheet describes the L6561 Power Factor Corrector, an improved version of the L6560 with very precise adjustable output, micro‑power start‑up current and a disable function. It outlines the device’s operating principles, pin functions and protection features such as over‑voltage protection.
The document includes absolute maximum ratings, detailed electrical characteristics, order codes, typical application circuits, evaluation results and revision history, allowing designers to integrate the L6561 into AC‑DC adaptors, lamp ballasts and SMPS designs.
| Input voltage range | 85 V – 265 V |
|---|---|
| Typical start‑up current | 50 µA typ. |
| Quiescent supply current | 4 mA typ. |
| Totem‑pole output current | 400 mA source & sink |
| Disable‑mode supply current | 1.4 mA typ. |
The L6561 draws about 50 µA typical start‑up current.
Grounding the ZCD pin disables the device and reduces the supply current to roughly 1.4 mA typical.
The totem‑pole output stage can source and sink up to 400 mA.
It operates from 85 V up to 265 V input.
