This document provides preliminary technical data for the ADT7320, a 16-bit SPI digital temperature sensor. The sensor offers high accuracy, low power consumption, and wide operating ranges.
The ADT7320 is a high‑accuracy digital temperature sensor that integrates a band‑gap reference, a temperature sensing element and a 16‑bit sigma‑delta ADC. It provides 0.0078 °C resolution (16‑bit) or 0.0625 °C (13‑bit) and operates from 2.7 V to 5.5 V. The device features programmable interrupts, low‑power modes, and an SPI‑compatible serial interface.
Typical applications include RTD and thermistor replacement, thermocouple cold‑junction compensation, medical equipment, industrial control, food transportation, environmental monitoring and HVAC. The sensor can be used in continuous, one‑shot, 1 SPS or shutdown modes to balance performance and power consumption.
| Temperature accuracy | ±0.25 °C (−20 °C to +105 °C, 3.0 V‑3.6 V) |
|---|---|
| Temperature resolution | 0.0078 °C (16‑bit) |
| Operating temperature range | −40 °C to +150 °C |
| Supply voltage range | 2.7 V to 5.5 V |
| Normal‑mode power consumption | 700 µW typical at 3.3 V |
| Shutdown current | 2.0 µA at 3.3 V |
The sensor provides ±0.25 °C accuracy from –20 °C to +105 °C when powered between 3.0 V and 3.6 V.
In normal (continuous) mode it typically consumes 700 µW at a 3.3 V supply.
The device operates from 2.7 V up to 5.5 V.
When one‑shot mode is enabled, the ADT7320 immediately completes a conversion and then enters shutdown mode to save power.
