The SSM2160 provides click‑less, digitally controlled level adjustment for six audio channels with a master control and individual channel controls. It uses low‑distortion VCAs and 7‑bit/5‑bit DACs to give 128 steps of attenuation and 32 steps of gain per channel, respectively. The device can be interfaced via a 3‑wire or 4‑wire serial bus and is supplied in a 24‑lead SOIC package.
The chip operates from single supplies of +10 V to +20 V or dual supplies of +5 V to +10 V, offers a 100 dB dynamic range, -90 dBu noise floor, and 80 dB channel separation. It is intended for home‑theater receivers, surround‑sound decoders, automotive sound systems, and multichannel mixers.
