MAX774/MAX775/MAX776 is a three-terminal switching regulator that provides high efficiency, low power consumption, and a small size. It supports user-defined output voltage
The MAX774, MAX775, and MAX776 are negative‑output, inverting DC‑DC controllers that use a current‑limited pulse‑frequency‑modulated (PFM) control scheme. They accept input voltages from 3 V to 16.5 V and provide preset output voltages of –5 V, –12 V, or –15 V, with the option for an adjustable output using external resistors. The devices are designed for high efficiency (up to 85 %) over a wide load range and can drive external P‑channel MOSFETs to deliver up to 5 W of power.
The datasheet includes absolute maximum ratings, detailed electrical characteristics, typical operating curves, pin descriptions, layout recommendations, and component selection guidance. It also provides design equations for selecting current‑sense resistors and output capacitors, as well as tables of recommended external switching transistors and capacitor suppliers.
