This document provides installation and operation procedures for a product produced by ATEN® International Co., Ltd., as well as precautions to prevent damage to the units and connected devices. The equipment has been tested and complies with the Class B digital device standards set by the FCC.
The ATEN IC-422P, IC-424P, and IC-428P are RS-422/485 serial PCI cards offering 2, 4, and 8 ports respectively. Each port includes bidirectional surge protection up to 1500 V or 600 W, 32 Bytes FIFO storage, and supports data rates up to 960 Kbps. The cards are plug‑and‑play and work with Windows 3.1/95/98/NT/2000/XP, DOS, and Linux operating systems.
Installation is straightforward: power off the computer, insert the card into an available PCI slot, connect the appropriate RJ‑45 to DB‑25/DB‑9 cables (for the 424P and 428P), attach peripheral devices, and power the system back on. The manual also provides pin assignments, compatibility information, and troubleshooting steps such as trying a different slot or cleaning contacts if boot errors occur.
