This application note introduces the ST7538Q dual channel reference design, which is based on the ST7538Q power line FSK transceiver and can be used for automatic meter reading (AMR) nodes.

This application note describes a multimaster field-bus protocol, using a power line modem based on the ST7540 (refer to application note AN2451) and an STM32 microcontroller used for interfacing the modem. This protocol is used for managing data exchange between different mains-connected devices. Possible applications are power management, heating or cooling system management, lighting control, alarm systems, and remote control appliances. The protocol implements a multimaster type, where each device can be a master in a communication starting the transmission. This introduces the need of data collision management.

This document describes how to upgrade from STEVAL-IHP001V2 to STEVAL-IHP001V3. In terms of hardware, both v2 and v3 versions of the smartplug demonstration boards are identical. STEVAL-IHP001V3 differs from the previous v2 version in terms of the ZigBee® PRO stack update. In addition to the ZigBee PRO stack features, this update allows to use STEVAL-IFS013V2 USB-ZigBee dongle as a network coordinator. The document describes in detail the steps to follow in order to move from STEVAL-IHP001V2 to STEVAL-IHP001V3. For further details on the smartplug STEVAL-IHP001V2 demonstration board, please refer to the AN2993 application note.

This user manual describes the STEVAL-SPBT2ATV2 demonstration board (dongle) for the Bluetooth® class 2 SPBT2532C2.AT module. The dongle includes the module under evaluation, an RF antenna, and a USB connector. The USB connector is used to connect the dongle with a PC, to access the Bluetooth module and to supply the dongle. The STEVAL-SPBT2ATV2 is a board with downloaded FW which enables the user to create a Bluetooth link with simple AT commands. It is an easy solution to test and operate with the SPBT2532C2.AT module. The features are: Bluetooth V2.1 board, USB connection, SMD antenna on board.

ST7570 is a power line networking system-on-chip from ST company. This application note introduces the usage of the chip, including electrical characteristics, safety recommendations, chip function descriptions, etc.

This document describes how to use the STM3210C-EVAL, based on the STM32F107VC microcontroller, as a web console to monitor and control a ZigBee network of smartplugs. The application can be used as a reference for the development of a ZigBee - TCP/IP Networks Bridge and is an example on how, in a smartgrid scenario, the services offered by a ZigBee HAN can be exported to the Internet by an Ethernet/Internet gateway. The STM32F107VC coordinates the ZigBee network through an SPZB260-PRO module included in an adapter connected by the expansion connectors of the STM3210C-EVAL; the ZigBee network is built using several STEVAL-IHP001V3s used to monitor and control several AC loads (lights, appliances, etc.) inside the HAN. The adapter also includes an M24LR64-R dual interface EEPROM to store the TCP/IP network configuration. In fact, in the microcontroller firmware, a web server is also implemented which allows to monitor the AC load power consumption measured by each smartplug and to control its status (ON/OFF).

This application note describes the reference design of the ST7580 power line networking system-on-chip. The reference design can be used to evaluate the transmission and reception performance of a power line communication node based on the ST7580 device.

This application note outlines the expected performance when using the SPIRIT1 under EN 300 220-1 (v2.3.1, 2012-02) [2] in the 863 to 870 MHz band.

AN4127 is an application note about STEVAL-SPBT3ATV3. It is a demonstration board based on V3.0 Bluetooth class 2 module SPBT2632C2A.AT2. It includes USB interface and power supply, supports reprogramming via USB interface, has reset button, antenna onboard, RoHS compliant and other features.

This application note describes the STEVAL-SPBT4ATV3 demonstration board (dongle) for the Bluetooth® class 1 SPBT2632C1A.AT2 module. The dongle includes the module under evaluation, an RF antenna, and a USB connector. The USB connector is used to connect the dongle with a PC, to access the Bluetooth module and to supply the dongle. The STEVAL-SPBT4ATV3 is an easy solution to test and operate with the SPBT2632C1A.AT2 module and to familiarize the user with the embedded FW which enables the creation of a Bluetooth link with simple AT commands. The AT command list is detailed in the UM1547 user manual. This document introduces the main technical characteristics of the dongle and includes a quick start guide to get started with STEVAL-SPBT4ATV3.

This application note outlines the expected performance when using the Spirit1 under ARIB STD-T108 in the 920 MHz band.

This application note introduces a power-fail comparator for NVRAM supervisory devices, which can deal with issues caused by unexpected power loss and provide early warning functionality. It can monitor the unregulated supply voltage and generate a warning signal when the supply voltage falls below a preset threshold, allowing the system to perform a controlled shutdown sequence.

M41ST87 is a supervisory family circuit that provides the industry with the latest in on-chip security solutions. It can be used in any system to protect sensitive data from tampering. This chip can be used to secure a wide range of applications from credit card machines and point-of-sale (POS) terminals to electric data meters. The M41ST87 features the ability to detect and timestamp any tampering of the system, and corrupt the device memory when the event occurs. This prevents the intruder from accessing data stored in memory by clearing the device memory and/or external RAM when the tampering event occurs.

This application note describes the power-down time stamp feature that is available on many STMicroelectronics serial real-time clock (RTC) devices.
