This report describes how the frequency modulation reduces electromagnetic interference on an SMPS using Viper53 as primary PWM-switch. For your reference, comparison of EMI measurement data will be presented.

This note describes an off-line autoranging (85Vac-264Vac) battery charger designed to operate in three differ- ent functional modes: – constant voltage – constant current – constant power

The L5970D is a step-down monolithic power switching regulator capable of delivering up to 1 A at output voltages from 1.235 V to 35 V. The operating input voltage ranges from 4.4 V to 36 V. It has been designed using BCDV technology and the power switching element is implemented through a P-channel DMOS transistor. It does not require a bootstrap capacitor, and the duty cycle can range up to 100%. An internal oscillator fixes the switching frequency at 250 kHz. This minimizes the LC output filter. A synchronization pin is available for cases where a higher frequency (up to 500 kHz) is required. Pulse-by-pulse and frequency foldback overcurrent protection offer effective short circuit protection. Other features are voltage feed-forward, protection against feedback disconnection, inhibit and thermal shutdown.

This application note introduces the frequency modulation feature of the L4981B version PFC controller, which can effectively reduce the EMI of the power factor correction circuit.

This document describes the interface issues between the PFC stage and PWM controllers in switch mode power supplies with power factor correction, and provides examples of how to interface the L4981A with other PWM controllers.

This application note presents a practical power factor corrected design for a 500 Watt output and universal mains input application. The detailed derivations of all power, IC biasing and control component values and types will be shown. The evaluation results from an actual working demoboard will be presented as well as several relevant oscillograms.

This document describes how to reduce the power consumption, under no-load conditions, of battery chargers and adapters by using STMicroelectronics’s TSM family of secondary-side devices. This family of devices provides accurate voltage and current regulation, while incurring very low consumption at no- load conditions. In fact, owing to these innovative, integrated devices, the total power consumption for the entire system at no-load conditions can be reduced down to nearly 100mW. With the arrival of new power consumption regulations, this capability is increasingly sought after.

This application note introduces an innovative solution to drive high brightness 1W LEDs (Light Emitting Diode), using VIPer22A-E in flyback configuration with output current control.

VIPer53 is a switch mode power supply module released by ST, supporting 90 to 264VAC input, output 24W power, and this application note introduces the use and precautions of VIPer53.

This application note describes the functions and features of STMicroelectronics' supervisor circuits, as well as the combinations of different models. These supervisor circuits effectively reduce the risk of system failure, ensure the safe operation of the system, and are cost-effective.

This document describes a DVD Combo power supply solution using the VIPer53 chip, suitable for devices in the 35W power range. It features high efficiency, low standby power consumption, and cost-effective solutions.
