Motorola MCR25 series thyristors are high-voltage, high-current, half-wave silicon gate–controlled thyristors designed primarily for motor control, heating control, and power supply applications. The MCR25 series is available in three voltage ratings: 400 V, 600 V, and 800 V. The on-state current rating is 25 A RMS, and the peak surge current rating is 300 A. The MCR25 series is available in a TO-220AB package.

The document describes the features and characteristics of MCR25 (3225 size: 1 / 4W) resistors, including the use of the same material as general purpose chip resistors, superior resistance to the elements with ruthenium oxide resistive material, and electrodes not corroded by soldering. The resistors are ISO-9001 certified and detailed information on dimensions and electrical characteristics is provided.

Motorola Thyristor is a reverse blocking thyristor designed primarily for half-wave AC control applications, such as motor controls, heating controls, and power supply crowbar circuits. It features glass passivated junctions with center gate fire for greater parameter uniformity and stability. The device is small, rugged, and thermally efficient, allowing for low thermal resistance, high heat dissipation, and durability. It has a blocking voltage of up to 800 volts and can withstand surge currents of 300 amps. The insulated package simplifies mounting.
