About this manual

The document describes a solution for driving high-brightness LEDs using the STEVAL-ILLO02Vx evaluation board. This board features five 8-channel STPO8CDC596 drivers controlled by an ST7FLITE3x microcontroller and supports two versions: one with OSRAM LEDs (STEVAL-ILLO02V1/V3) and another with Toshiba or Vishay LEDs (STEVAL-ILLO02V2/V4). The board includes a DC-DC converter, a control panel with switches and potentiometers, and a PC GUI for monitoring LED status.

Frequently asked questions

How do the drivers switch to Error Detection mode?

Drivers enter Error Detection mode if a '101' pulse is sent on the OE pin and the LE pin is sampled as high voltage at the 4th rising edge of CLK.

What data should be sent when entering Error Detection mode?

It is recommended to send all data to the drivers as '1' after entering Error Detection mode.

How long must the OE pin be low to detect error status?

The state of the OE pin must be pulled down to low voltage for at least 2 microseconds.
