The L6926 is a high efficiency monolithic synchronous step-down regulator from STMicroelectronics. It integrates a high voltage MOSFET and a synchronous rectifier and can operate at 100% duty cycle, delivering up to 800mA of continuous output current and regulating the output voltage from 0.6V to VIN. This device is designed using BCDV technology and has a low quiescent current (25μA) and shutdown current (0.2μA), making it very suitable for battery-powered equipment such as PDAs, handheld terminals, DSCs (digital still cameras) and cell phones.
The document describes the main features of the L6926, a high efficiency monolithic synchronous step-down regulator capable of delivering up to 800 mA. It highlights operation from an input voltage range of 2 V to 5.5 V and output regulation down to 0.6 V using 100% duty cycle capability.
| Continuous output current | 800 mA |
|---|---|
| Input voltage range | 2 V to 5.5 V |
| Output voltage range | 0.6 V up to VIN |
| Switching frequency (internal) | 600 kHz |
| Maximum synchronization frequency | 1.4 MHz |
| Quiescent current (typical) | 25 uA |
The device operates in Low consumption mode for light loads and Low noise mode if low frequencies are undesirable.
For most applications, a 220 pF capacitor connected between the COMP pin and ground is sufficient to guarantee stability.
The device includes hysteretic UVLO, OVP, constant current short-circuit protection, Power Good, and thermal shutdown.
