About this manual

This document proposes a switch-mode architecture as an alternative to magnetic amplifiers (mag amps) for generating auxiliary regulated power rails in multi-output switching power supplies. The traditional mag amp approach is described as expensive, bulky, and difficult to design. The proposed solution replaces the saturable core reactor with a power MOSFET and utilizes the L6561 Transition Mode PFC controller in a non-conventional way to achieve better performance and lower cost.
