This document describes the features and characteristics of the HI 95759 Maple Syrup Transmittance Analyzer, including measurement of syrup transmittance, supplied accessories, and usage precautions.
The Hanna Instruments HI 95759 is a portable microprocessor analyzer designed to measure the percent light transmittance of maple syrup compared to analytical reagent grade glycerol. This measurement allows for the identification of the syrup quality class based on color. The instrument features an LCD display, auto-shut off, and uses a tungsten lamp with a narrow band interference filter at 560 nm.
| Range | 0.0 to 100.0% Transmittance |
|---|---|
| Resolution | 0.1% Transmittance |
| Precision | +1% @ 75.0% Transmittance |
| Light Source | Tungsten lamp with narrow band interference filter @ 560 nm |
| Light Detector | Silicon Photocell |
| Battery Type | 1 x 9 volt |
| Auto-Shut off | After 10 minutes of non-use |
| Dimensions | 180 x 83 x 46 mm |

The instrument is warranted for two years against defects in workmanship and materials when used for its intended purpose.
A blinking "BAT" on the display indicates that the battery voltage is getting low and needs to be replaced.
Interference may be caused by air bubbles, turbidity in the sample, or scratched or dirty cuvets.
