About this manual

The Gennum GS9090 is a 270Mb/s reclocking deserializer designed for SMPTE 259M-C compliant descrambling and NRZI to NRZ decoding, as well as DVB-ASI sync word detection and 8b/10b decoding. When used with an SDI Cable Equalizer, it provides a receive solution for SD-SDI and DVB-ASI applications.

The device features an integrated line-based FIFO supporting four user-selectable modes for data alignment, delay, clock phase interchange, MPEG packet extraction, and ancillary data extraction. It includes an internal flywheel for noise-immune H, V, F extraction and offers automatic or manual selection between SMPTE video and DVB-ASI data processing.

Frequently asked questions

What voltage is required for the phase-locked loop power supply?

The PLL requires a +1.8V DC connection to its VDD pin.

How should the serial digital input buffer ground be connected?

The BUFF_GND pin must be connected directly to GND.

What happens when the IOPROC_EN pin is set LOW?

Setting this pin LOW causes the device to enter low-latency mode.
