The SSM2164 is a low-cost quad voltage controlled amplifier (VCA) that offers high performance and design flexibility. Each amplifier provides current input and output, as well as a ground referenced control port. It has high matching accuracy at unity gain and a gain range of 120 dB. It is suitable for cost-sensitive gain control applications.
The SSM2164 contains four independent voltage‑controlled amplifiers (VCAs) in a single 16‑pin package. It provides high performance (100 dB dynamic range, 0.02 % THD) at a low cost‑per‑VCA, making it suitable for audio mixers, automatic gain controls and other gain‑control applications. Each VCA uses a current‑input/current‑output architecture with a –33 mV/dB control port and can be configured for Class A or Class AB operation via a single external resistor.
The datasheet includes electrical specifications, pin configurations, ordering information, typical application circuits, and guidelines for single‑supply operation and upgrading from the older SSM2024 part. Detailed performance graphs illustrate THD, noise, gain/phase and power‑supply rejection across temperature and bias conditions.

The SSM2164 contains four independent voltage‑controlled amplifiers in a single package.
It can operate from ±4 V up to ±18 V.
The device provides a 120 dB gain range, from +20 dB maximum gain to –100 dB attenuation.
A single external resistor connected to the MODE pin sets the quiescent current, selecting Class A (higher current) or Class AB (lower current) operation.
