About this manual

The MAX187 and MAX189 are 12‑bit analog‑to‑digital converters that operate from a single +5 V supply and provide a fast 8.5 µs successive‑approximation conversion. They feature an internal buffered reference (MAX187) or external reference (MAX189), a 3‑wire serial interface compatible with SPI, QSPI, and Microwire, and low power consumption (7.5 mW operating, 2 µA shutdown).

These converters are suited for portable data‑logging, remote DSP, isolated data acquisition, and high‑accuracy process‑control applications where space and power are critical. They are offered in 8‑pin DIP and 16‑pin SO packages.
