MAX6501-MAX6504 are low-cost, fully integrated temperature switches that assert a logic signal when their die temperature crosses a factory-programmed threshold.
The MAX6501‑MAX6504 family are fully integrated temperature switches that monitor die temperature and assert a logic output when a factory‑programmed threshold is crossed. They operate from a 2.7 V to 5.5 V supply and consume typically 30 µA, making them suitable for microprocessor reset monitoring, fan control, and thermal shutdown applications.
Four variants are offered: MAX6501/6503 provide an active‑low open‑drain output, while MAX6502/6504 provide an active‑high push‑pull output. Thresholds range from –45 °C to +115 °C in 10 °C steps, and hysteresis can be set to +2 °C or +10 °C via the HYST pin. Devices are supplied in 5‑pin SOT23‑5 or 7‑pin TO‑220‑7 packages.
| Temperature Threshold Range | -45 °C to +115 °C in 10 °C increments |
|---|---|
| Hysteresis Options | +2 °C or +10 °C (selected via HYST pin) |
| Output Type (MAX6501/6503) | Active‑low open‑drain |
| Output Type (MAX6502/6504) | Active‑high push‑pull |
| Package Options | SOT23‑5 and TO‑220‑7 |
Connect the HYST pin to GND for +2 °C hysteresis or to VCC for +10 °C hysteresis.
MAX6501 (and MAX6503) have an active‑low open‑drain output, while MAX6502 (and MAX6504) have an active‑high push‑pull output.
